It's rare to be able to meet a champion of any professional sport, much less one from right in your backyard.

For sports fans in the Capital Region, your chance to do just that is coming up this weekend.

The Rexford native will be penning his name onto pictures and memorabilia from 10AM  - 12:30PM on Saturday, and all attendees are being encouraged to bring supplies and non-perishable food item donations to help support their local communities.

Anderson Has Reached Incredible Heights at a Young Age

Born on May 2, 1998, Ian Anderson has just 30 regular season appearances in Major League Baseball, all for the Atlanta Braves. That said, at just 23 years of age, Anderson has already pitched in eight postseason games, of which he has won four, lost none, and has an ERA of 1.26.

Anderson has been a champion at all levels, including locally at Shenendehowa High School, where he won a Class AA state championship in 2016. Anderson chose not to attend college, declaring for the MLB Draft, where he was selected by the Braves third overall in 2016.

Anderson began his minor league career in the summer of 2016, and after being invited to spring training in 2019 at age 20, would make his MLB debut one season later. Anderson would become a regular on the Braves in 2021, and he and fellow young pitcher Max Fried would become two of the pillars that brought the team its first World Series title since 1995.

With all of that under his belt, Anderson has still yet to reach his prime. Needless to say, if you have the time on Saturday, consider visiting Anderson in Clifton Park.

Make sure you bring something to donate, though!
