A day after former Nationals general manager Jim Bowden suggested that the Phillies and Bryce Harper are "rounding third" and "heading home" towards a deal, more chatter has enveloped the two sides.  Sunday morning's noise involves a former National League East team president and one of the better-known baseball reporters.

Of course, Samson has no particular source, just "rumors spreading".

But the more smoke, the more chance there is a fire.  The much-anticipated offseason could be over soon, with the Phillies doing very, very well.  Harper's signing would make it easy to call the offseason a success, even though the Phillies just may keep going.
